What is the Wild Ride?

The Wild Ride is a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign inviting you to choose any activity you like to raise funds. Walk, cycle, knit, sing hymns, sell lemonade, bake bread, etc. Be creative – the possibilities are endless.

This year, the Wild Ride is raising funds for Alongside Hope’s project to provide Solar Suitcases in Mozambique and Madagascar. The Wild Ride is administered through the Canada Helps platform that allows you to fundraise as a team or individual. This is where online donations are collected as well. Canada Helps takes care of much of the administrative overhead, so we don’t have to – saving us all time and money. Why Join the Wild Ride?

Why participate in the Wild Ride?

Because every participant helps deliver life-saving light to mothers and newborns in rural health clinics.

When you participate in the Wild Ride you are raising funds and awareness about Solar Suitcases. Maybe you’re doing that by running, singing, walking, rolling, knitting, selling lemonade – whatever way you choose, you’re not just having fun, you’re also powering safe births in communities where electricity is unreliable or non-existent. Each Solar Suitcase provides health care workers with essential tools to deliver a baby safely at any time of day, including bright LED lights, a fetal Doppler, headlamps, and phone chargers.

Solar Suitcases work. Since Alongside Hope first partnered to install these units in Mozambique, over 80,000 babies have been safely delivered in off-grid health clinics. That includes emergencies in the dark, complicated deliveries, and precious lives saved, because light was there when it mattered most.
