Archbishop Christopher, M.Div, D.D. “hc”, D.D. “jd“ was elected the second National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop on December 1, 2022 and was previously the 13th Diocesan Bishop of Saskatoon elected November 17, 2018. Saskatchewan born, hailing originally from Onion Lake Cree Nation, Chris is a graduate of the Toronto School of Theology at Wycliffe College. His parish ministries included on reserve, off reserve and shared ministry with the Lutheran ELCIC, the largest parish being three main and six part-time churches, and overseeing 10 communities. His priestly ministries were in the Diocese of Saskatchewan, Diocese of Algoma, and Diocese of Toronto as the Indigenous Native Priest with Toronto Urban Native Ministry. Archbishop Christopher has worked on many committees in the church; ACC – Council of General Synod (CoGS), General Synod Planning Committee, Provincial Synod Council, Diocesan Executives in Saskatchewan, Algoma and Toronto, as well as with Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministries and a member of Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples (ACIP), Sacred Circle and the Anglican Indigenous Network. He is presently the Presiding Elder for both Sacred Circle and ACIP.
Archbishop Christopher is widely travelled, and now calls Edmonton home, where he lives with Tracy, his wife of 46 years. They have two grown children, each with spouses, and four grandchildren.
