The Reverend Gabriel Kwenga
Diocese of Rupert’s Land
Born in Cameroon 60 years ago, Kwenga grew up in a family of seven in a God-fearing household. His mother was a devout Christian, while his father found his faith later in life. These early years laid the foundation for the values he still carries today.
In 1994, Kwenga immigrated to Belgium, a move that would become pivotal in his spiritual journey. A life-changing event led to his conversion to Christianity, marking a significant transformation in his life. It was also in Belgium that he met my spouse, Bridget. Together, they built a life and, in 2007, they took the next step by immigrating to Canada, settling in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
They are blessed with three wonderful children: Fidelis, Dwain and Brielle. Each of them has brought joy and meaning to their lives. In 2018, Kwenga was ordained into the diaconate, an honour that deepened his commitment to serve others. A year later, in 2019, their journey brought them to Winnipeg, where they continue to call home.
“Throughout my life, I have been blessed with a wealth of good memories, experiences that have shaped and enriched me. From my childhood in Cameroon to my spiritual awakening in Belgium, my family in Canada, and my service in the church, each chapter of my story has been filled with gratitude. These are the memories I hold dear, and they are the essence of my life’s journey.”
